A weaned sows condition for breeding should be a fully healthy weaned sow.
Those that lose a little weight from the farrowing house, not too thin, with no symptoms of vaginal discharge can still improve its litter size and good conception rate.
But for weaned sow which have lost weight with a very thin appearance, it is advisable to skip heat into the next fertile cycle and to increase the feed to the sows for full fertility. For the farms that already have a breeding group set up and need to be considered, the sows will have to be assess on the value of the chosen method. The ITAC team recommends skipping heat, which is probably the most appropriate method.
